The only UV-DYE that penetrates the lens surface. During the short heating process the pores of the lens open up and the chemical is permanently encapsulated in the lens surface. A treated lens will absorb 100 % UV from 260 nm to 382 nm. The absorption will not weaken in time but increase. Insertion into lens tint neutralizer will not affect absorption.
Same procedures as with regular lens tint. Add regular tap water to concentrate to make one quart total. Heat solution to 94C or 205F. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT THE TEMPERATURE IN THE DYE POT IS THE ONE SPECIFIED. Insert cleaned lenses only when temperature is reached. As UV- PROTEC deep penetrating solution, best results are obtained by leaving lens in the solution between 10 and 15 minutes. Remove lens from solution and let lens cool off before washing residue off under hot water. Any residue can also be cleaned with acetone or alcohol. Check absorbtion or transmission with a UV-METER. On a meter that measures at 400nm the reading should be at 8 or 9% transmission, which is equivalent to zero transmission at 382 nm. On a meter that is adjusted to 382 nm the transmission should read between 0 and 2%. Evaporated liquid should be replaced with regular water so those inserted lenses are completely covered by the UV Protect 382 solution. Replace or check the efficiency of the solution after 7 reheat and cooling cycles (7days if heated every day) or after 7 days of continuous heating.
Do not Insert lenses into solution as it is heating up and has a not attained the full temperature. Do not leave lenses in the solution as it is cooling down. UV Protect 382 at temperatures below 94C or 205F might damage lens surfaces by blistering or the creation of small holes. Should through one of these reasons a lens surface be blistered or has holes, it can be corrected by placing the lens into hot neutralizer for 11/2 to 2 hours. Do not re-insert lenses into UV Protect 382, the treatment is still there and can not be removed. Material
