How does an alcohol solution damage the AR coating

An AR coating is a layer or multiple layers of SIO2 that have been evaporated and applied under vacuum. The layer consists of thousands of minuscule crystals that adhere to the lens surface that has been treated with a scratch resistant coating.

When lens cleaners containing alcohols are used and applied on a long term basis, the alcohols, Isopropyl and or Methanol,  which belong to the solvent family, will attack the adhesion of the crystals. Once a damage occurs the AR coating will start to delaminate and this factor will be speeded up by using the same lens cleaners.

When wearing Anti-Reflex coated lenses one should make sure NOT to purchase any lens cleaner that does contain Isopropyl or Methanol.

How does UNBELIEVABLE clean lenses

This lens cleaner is a mix of surfactants, which belong into the soap family (there are 18,500 on the market). These surfactants are well balanced and suspended in water in order to be gentle on the AR coated lens but clean off all dirt and grease that accumulates on the lens surface.

A very simple procedure. Blow off any loose dust or dirt so you will not scratch the lens when applying the cleaner Just spray the solution onto the lens surfaces, spread the around the lens surface with a finger and wipe dry with a clean tissue.
