Top of the line protection with a Polysiloxane Top coating 3 different ways of application Water Based Dip System...............Pill under Vacuum...... Thermo Evaporation of Concentrate By treating a lens with EASY CLEAN solution we are filling the spaces between the crystals of which the coating layer consists. There are hundreds of thousands of these crystals that are deposited on the lens surface during the coating process. There are spaces between these crystals or rods into which dirt and grease penetrates during normal use of the lens. The OMS Hydrophobic coating will fill these gaps and create a smooth surface without changing the properties of the A-R coating. Dirt stays on top of the surface and can not go in between the above mentioned gaps. Therefore the lens becomes easily cleanable and less smudgy.. How can we test a lens in a simple way to find out if it has been treated with a hydrophobic or "easy" or "simple" to clean solution? By going over the lens surface with a fingernail. An untreated lens feels like sandpaper to a fingernail while a treated lens gives the feel of a highly polished and slippery surface. SIMPLY EASY CLEAN SOLUTIONS will keep lenses cleaner longer because of the added benefit of anti-fog and anti-static additives. A lens pulled through steam in a regular ant-fog test will dissipate fogging up within 8 seconds while a untreated A-R coated lens will take up to 52 seconds to clear up. No other SIMPLY EASY CLEAN treatment on the market will provide the same or equal benefits. This product can be applied at any time of the life span of a lens or can also be re-coated.
An excellent description of Polysiloxanes can be found at: http://www.eng.buffalo.edu/Courses/ce435/Polysiloxanes/
Polysiloxanes are good for non-medical applications as well. For instance, the polymer is hydrophobic and is a good water repellant, as well as being slippery so other substances will not stick to it either. Also, since it is permeable to gases while being impermeable to particles, it is a good protective coating. The bonding is strong and so the polymer can be used as a good adhesive as well. These three applications are also enhanced because of the flexibility of the polymer. Since it has the ability to bend and twist, there wont be as much cracking and chipping going on in the application. Sensitivity: The product is very sensitive to oxygen. The primary curing process is instantaneous and the secondary one is only a few hours while glasses can be worn and used. The product being very sentive to oxygene proper care has to be taken. When not using it, it should be stored in a container with an air tight lid and there should as little air space between liquid and the cover. If not covered properly the solution will start to react and spoil very fast.
Chemical reactions: There is no chemical reaction, neither between either the finished coating (form of silica) and the AR coating, nor the substrate. The siloxane acts purly as a sealer of the surface of an AR coating, which by itself is a rough and un-even surface, microscopically seen. Through the properties of the siloxane he finished coating also provides an anti-allergenic surface, which is non toxic and will not effect any allergic reactions. The finished layer will not react to solvents as acetone, alcohols and so forth. It can only be removed by dipping for one to two seconds in to hot ethylene glycol.
Electric non conductivity is one of the various
advantages that plastics possess generally. However, there are cases where
this advantage turns to be a defect that static electric charge accumulates
on the surface of plastics. Static electricity gives troubles such as
electric shock, dust attraction and sticking of films. At the same time, antistatic agents show the action of reducing the accumulation of frictional static charge. Thus, antistatic effect is obtained. OMS Optochemicals is the first and only company that had developed already in 1991 an optical coating made with polysiloxanes that incorporates both hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties.
This is probably the simplest operations in a High-Tech age were everything is automatic. This product does not need the involvement of any machinery if it is not justified. Just dip the lens with two fingers into the solution and remove right away. The remaining water droplets can be shaken off and the lens can be dried with a fresh Kleenex from the center out while rotating the lens. (There will be deposits on the lens edge that should not be dragged back on the lens surface). As this product is an instant air cure process, the solution should be kept in a container with an airtight lid. The container should be closed at all times when not in use. The liquid can spoil overnight if not covered. OMS Hydrophobic solutions are used today by most A-R Coating laboratories and lens manufacturers around the world. The process is so simple that anybody from the largest manufacturers to the in house optical retail laboratory can do the treatments. There is absolute chemical resistance against most solvents. The only way the product will wear off is from the abrasion of cleaning. As cleaning is reduced with the use of this product the coating is very durable. Lens cleaners and ultrasonic cleaners (with normal cleaning solutions) will not affect the coating. Limited Shelf Life: OMS SIMPLY EASY CLEAN solutions have a shelf life of 4 months in the bottle. Once in use one has to be very careful to keep the solution covered (airtight) otherwise polymerization can occur with air contact and the product can go bad overnight. Never pour the liquid back into the bottle as it picks up too much oxygen by doing so. Laboratory specials for A-R coating laboratories available Material
