The perfect buffer blocking pad for any type of ophthalmic or optical lenses
![]()
A re-usable pad that provides all the torque to keep the most slippery lens
in place while edging lens. No more wasted lenses that come off axis.
Lens AR coaters and the AR Council as well as Bevel Edger suppliers should be happy to see, that one of the major problems mounting those slippery lenses has been solved.

The OMS HOOKER non slip pad
![]()
The HOOKER pad is made from a clear transparent plastic whose surface bonds to the lens by adhesion only and adapts to a lens surface of just about any curve, minus or plus.
It acts as a buffer between the lens...............fully adhering to it, like becoming part of the lens surface .................and the regular pad containing glue which sticks to the HOOKER pad without any problem. It will also work very well with the old type suction cups used in older edging machines.
One other application where the HOOKER pad will work and give additional torque protection is in the cutting of polycarbonate lenses where the applied torque on the pads by the machines is extremely strong.
.
How to apply and work with the re-usable OMS HOOKER pad:
Similar to press on prisms, the lens surface as well as the HOOKER pad should be clean of dirt and grease which is a pre-condition for a perfect adhesion to the lens surface.
Press on the pad to the surface and make sure that there are no air bubbles between pad and lens surface. The pad is flexible and stretchy and will adapt easily to any lens surface on the plus or on the minus side. You can also use a pad on each side. As they are re-usable it does not become a cost factor.
Block the lens as usual with your regular mounting pad and cut the lens as usual.
While the horizontal torque is superb and does not let the lens slip, the vertical hold is not very strong and can be improved and corrected by applying a dab of UHU, paper glue stick, to the center of pad. This glue is water washable and is is available at your stationary store.
When lens is finished and beveled, remove the HOOKER pad by lifting it upwards at 90 degrees from the lens surface. It will come off the lens very easily. Clean it up when necessary and re-use it again until the pad is worn out. A superb deal at the cost of not even 2 cents per piece.
